2026 Game Schedule (coming soon)

Dear Dartmouth Parents and Students,

Baseball is back at Dartmouth! After a successful inaugural year, Dartmouth will once again have a Club Baseball Team this fall. Please read the information below about the team. 

The baseball team is sponsored by the Dartmouth’s new Athletic Boosters, as well as the Dartmouth Home and School Club.  The team is not directly affiliated or connected to Dartmouth Athletics or Union School District.The team will be registered as a Juniors fall ball team in Almaden Little League and will compete against other local middle schools, including Bret Harte, Castillero, and Hoover. 

We have included several details below about the plan for the season and look forward to having you register your players!!!

ELIGIBILITY

• It is open to sixth, seventh, and eighth grade Dartmouth students, including those currently playing on travel ball teams.

REGISTRATION

• Registration for tryouts is now open. See the link below for the online registration form. Registration closes Friday, August 28.

• Registration Form 

• Please note that registration does not guarantee a spot on the team, but is required to tryout.

• There is no cost for players to try out, team fees will apply to players who are chosen for the team.

TRYOUTS

• Tryouts are required for team selection.

• Players will be evaluated on a range of skills during tryouts.

• Coaches will select approx 14-15 players for the team.

• Tryouts will be held on Tuesday, September 1 at Challenger Field 4:30-6pm (19950 McKean Rd., San Jose, CA 95120)

• Those who don’t make the team are encouraged to join their Little League fall program.

COST

• $175 per player for the season.

• This fee covers field usage, uniforms (jerseys at hats), and shared baseball equipment.

PLAYER PROVIDED EQUIPMENT

• Players will need to provide their own glove, helmet, and bat.

• They need to wear baseball pants, an athletic cup, and cleats to the tryout and practices.

SEASON DURATION / SCHEDULE

• September 8th through November 7th, 2026.

PRACTICES AND GAMES

• Practices will be held 2 to 3 times per week for 1.5 to 2 hours per practice at Challenger Field (19950 McKean Rd, San Jose, CA 95120) and Castillero Middle School (6384 Leyland Park Dr, San Jose, CA 95120)

• Most games will be scheduled for weekends, but there will be a few weekday games as well.

COACHES

• Coaches Brett Lotz and Jason Hull will be coaching the team for a second year. They are volunteer dads with lots of coaching experience, and a love for baseball. Coach Brett Lotz has been coaching his two sons in baseball for the past 9 years, and have been on the Almaden Little League board for the past 3 seasons. Two of our neighboring middle schools, Castillero and Bret Harte, have had a baseball team that plays in fall for a number of years. There has been a bunch of positive feedback from coaches, families, and players of those teams, so Dartmouth HSC decided to put together a Dartmouth team. Our team will play as a "club team" within Almaden Little League. The team will be registered through Almanden Little League in their fall ball program. The team will be made up of only Dartmouth players wearing jerseys that say "Dartmouth" on them. We will play against other middle schools with teams (like Bret Harte and Castillero), and other little league teams in the Almaden Little League district. The season runs Sept 6 - Nov 7. The team fees are $750 paid to Almaden Little League, as well as the cost for jerseys and hats.

Dartmouth has a lot of great baseball players, and this would be a fantastic opportunity for these players to play as a "Dartmouth" team.
